Directions to the Albert Einstein Institute in Hannover

The AEI Hannover is located on the campus of Leibniz University Hannover.

From Hannover Central Station

The taxi fare from the central station to the Institute (Callinstraße 38) is approximately 15 EUR. 


By tram

Leave the central station in the direction city; walk along the Bahnhofstraße to the subway station Kröpcke (beneath the Kröpcke square); take subway no. 4 direction “Garbsen” or no. 5 direction “Stöcken”. Leave the train at the fourth stop “Schneiderberg”; cross the Nienburger Straße, walk along the Schneiderberg; after the refectory (Mensa) turn left into the Callinstraße; no. 38 at the right hand side is the AEI. Subway tickets are available at kiosks or at ticket vending machines (e.g. at subway station Kröpcke). The subways depart every few minutes Monday to Friday, a little less frequent on weekends and in the night. You need a single ticket (“Einzelkarte, Zone A”) or a day ticket (“Tageskarte, Zone A”).

From Hannover-Langenhagen Airport

The taxi fare from the airport to the institute is approximately 37 EUR. There is a special suburban train (“S-Bahn” no. 5) going from the airport to the central station (Hauptbahnhof), which takes 17 minutes. Tickets are available at a counter or at ticket vending machines. By car

Take the highway A2; exit Hannover-Herrenhausen, follow the sign Zentrum; drive along the B6 (Westschnellweg), exit Herrenhausen; take the Herrenhäuser Straße to the right; pass the Great Garden; at the fork to the right into the Nienburger Straße; the second left is the Callinstraße; no. 38 at the left hand side is the AEI.
